Family Meal Planning 101

How often do you find yourself last-minute scrambling to find something suitable for your family's dinner?

It's 5 pm, and you're standing in front of a slab of frozen meat, cursing yourself for not being more organised.

Sound familiar?

Finding a healthy and manageable family dinner routine can seem impossible at times. However, with just a little

bit of organisation and variety, dinner time can be a whole lot easier. And you don't have to be an ace in the kitchen

or have insta-worthy meals! These simple tips will help make your Family Meal Planning easy as 1-2-3.

Plan Your Menu: Start with a calendar: paper, digital, or app. Plug in all activities for the week so you can plan for

freezer meals on sports nights or three-course meals on a leisurely Sunday. Then gather together your tried-and-true

recipes. If eating healthy is a goal, check out (insert website) for fitness-friendly recipes.

Make a List: Make your life easier by printing out copies of your recipes. With most meal-planning apps, you can

import recipes, plug them into a weekly menu, and even generate a grocery list. Otherwise, get back to basics and

write out your list ... PSA! We have just the thing for you - check out our BUSY MUMS TO DO LIST. And while this

may sound super type-A, organising your list by Grocery Shop aisle saves tonnes of time (think fresh produce, meat,

dairy, school lunchbox snacks, etc.).

Stock Up: Before you leave the house, shop your pantry and fridge to avoid buying duplicates. And let's get

real: grocery shopping is best done alone. Think of it as "me time" (but with groceries).

Bonus: Meal Prep: Meal Prep is an entire post on its own, so let's just cover the basics:

• Have a few freezer meals on hand for busy nights.

• Batch cook rice, quinoa, or beans and roast some veggies for easy salads and sides.

• Roast a chicken or BBQ extra steaks to slice over greens and grains.

• Mason Jar Salads and Breakfasts are perfect for lunch at your desk.

• Have the kids help fill their lunchboxes each night to simplify the morning routine.

Planning your meals can save precious time, money, and frustration. And who knows?
Maybe you'll never hear "What's for dinner?" again.

Let's leave the dinner time scramble in the past. What are your tips and tricks for getting dinner on the table?
