VOL 11. - THIS FATHER'S DAY … THE ROLES ARE REVERSED

I have been quoted as saying I’m totally coming back in my next life as a Dad!

Look, Mum life is amazing, fulfilling, rewarding, hashtag blessed and all of that but there is something to be
said for being the fun parent.

And I know I am generalising here - there are incredible dads out there who are single parents or stay at
home parents. I know they exist, but so do unicorns.

Even if you have a super incredible and amazing husband - like I do - who cooks every night! (this is in everyone’s
best interest as I am a rubbish cook) Mums still end up with alllllllll the other tedious, little, constant
life admin jobs that go with a being the default parent... That reminds me, I need to make a dentist appointment
for 1, 2, 3 & 4. Oh, and register for summer sports.

But the trade off for this are the jobs and tasks that are dad specific - (disclaimer this is just in our house
and may not universal dad/mum job allocation) but I do love that he does the grass and tree things, the cooking
things, the pet things, the car things, the booking and contacting things and the occasional early morning late
pick up/drop off. I also love that special thing he does that makes me go wahooo and ultimately made him a dad.

So, last Father’s Day - in an effort to really spoil him - the kids and I decided to take on his 'Dad' jobs and chores.

"Put yo’ feet up babe! Relax, we got this."

We in fact, did not got this. Needless to say, it did not end well.

In the name of sisterhood and sharing the love I will let you in on some life wisdom that may be gross to
hear but it's certainly a lesson you should learn from me and not from experience. One should never mow over the
doggy do dos on the lawn - they are splat out the back of the mower and all over the driver.
It really was the sh*ttest Father’s Day ever!

So this Father's Day I will enjoy spoiling him instead with some really great gifts and a day of fun - but I won't go too
crazy because let’s face it most of these fellas buy themselves a new “need it now” something as they please.

Don’t get me started on the metal detector collecting dust in our garage following a stint watching
GOLD DIGGERS AUSTRALIA. Still keeping my fingers crossed that one day he will find that nugget of gold
he promised when he told me he had purchased the stupid thing ...

Anywayyyyyy, let's love and worship these super men today - fathers, father figures and their dad bods.
Happy Father’s Day to all you great dads out there!

Xoxo Love, Minivan Mum
