VOL. 7 - Mother’s Day! Or as I call it “a chance to buy-myself-stuff day!”

VOL 6. - MOTHER'S DAY - OR AS I CALL IT "BUY-MYSELF-STUFF" DAY

I know we laugh and moan and sometimes carry on, but the truth is being a mother is hard work. The mental load is nonstop.
There are constantly multiple tabs open in my head and when one circus act ends, another is waiting to start …
clean up on aisle 14!

As Mother’s Day approaches, I can’t help but think about the contributions I have made to Mother’s Day for many other
families – curating and manning the Mother’s Day stall at our children’s school! (To be fair, Smart Gift Ideas do make
this pretty seamless and super simple – but still, I did it!).

Preparing gifts for my own mother, happily I might add! No moaning here, she is the super amazing mother of all mothers and
deserves a crown of jewels and nothing less!

And then there’s our children’s Godmothers and Aunts, followed up with the meal prep and contributions for our own family
celebration it is hard not to get out my tiny violin and say:

“Hey, isn’t this meant to be for ME!?”

Truth is this, Motherhood, is a hard gig. There are decisions to make that I don't always want to make or know how to make.
There are many ‘luxuries’ I go without in order to ensure our children have what they need. I haven't been on a bubbly night out
in years because I am a parent and need to be home. Or because I am a parent and the heavy head the next day does not
mix with those high pitched, loud voices. The constant meal preparing, cleaning up after and then thinking about the next
meal … and the next one.

It is endless and exhausting and hard. But you know what isn’t hard? Them. Our children.

They are not the hard part, they are actually the BEST part.

Watching them grow and being a part of their journey, even being an influence – and not in the youtuber kind of way –
is so incredible. The way they call for us when they are sad or sick or scared. The pure joy when they have something important
or exciting to tell us. That is unparalleled to any other feeling or gift.

(I mean, I am of course still going to buy myself a gift but you know what I am getting at!)

I hope this Mother’s Day you can spend some time snuggling, smooching, laughing and delighting in your amazing children.
Remember the life admin is the tough bit but the loving them is the best bit.

And please buy yourselves a fabulous, maybe a little-too-expensive gift - you deserve it xx

Love MVM xx
